Encouraging Problem Solving and Persistence

Toddlers often encounter frustration as they try to build new skills. Empathizing with these challenges and helping them through simple steps makes a difference. For example, when building a block tower, suggest trying on a harder surface to avoid falls.

Try This:

  • Help Through Frustration: Offer gentle guidance to help children work through problems themselves. Praise the effort: “You worked really hard to put that puzzle piece in place!”
